Assignment 17 – Life Sentence

Had a fever for about four days last week and am just now back on my feet. Sorry for the missed week. Hope you were practicing your editing because this week’s assignment is to take the following sentence and give me three NEW versions of it. Make each version distinct.

The only rule is that you must keep the base words intact. They do not have to remain together, but their meaning cannot be changed.

Here’s the sentence: The man wore a hat to the meeting.

My versions will be up there shortly. Enjoy!

Keep writing.

The man wore a hat to the meeting.

It was unfortunate that the exceedingly private man wore such a flamboyant hat to the meeting at the supper club.

The short, balding man wore a mesh hat—a minor-league ball cap—to ward off the sun that was setting low in the sky over the drug dealers’ meeting.

The man was dead and he wore the blood on his forehead like a hat…perhaps he should have avoided the meeting.

    Hope I’ve got this right!

The man in camoflage wore a bright orange hat to the hunter’s anonymous meeting where he told the group that his hunting habit was reformed, but his fashion sense was not.

Meeting his wife at the hat store, the man wore his sins like a scarlet letter.

The man, unsure of the dress code, wore his favorite wool hat to the stich n’ bith meeting.

My fault if you didn’t get it quite as I imagined. I was actually thinking that each writer would create their own sentence and then give three versions of that sentence.

    e.g. The rabbit hopped.

The blonde rabbit squirmed and hopped in the box.

The tasty rabbit wouldn’t remain on his plate…it hopped onto the floor and sullied the carpet.

The deadly rabbit lunged for his neck. But years of training allowed Jim to avoid the attack—he hopped aside and strangled it.

    Better?
