SPOILER – Happenings in the Peloton
July 13, 2008
I guess the rest of my posts won’t show up until after 9PM EST because I’ve got news to share.
Slightly after the 100KM mark of Stage 9, Cadel Evans crashed and injured his elbow and tore up his leg. He got back on the bike and was led from the crash site by five teammates.
I haven’t found out yet – but will in a second – if he caught back up with the main peloton which is being led by the Euskaltel team.
Evans is ranked second overall in the Tour and could have a huge chunk taken out of his race if the Euskaltel team gets too far ahead.
Also at this point, the breakaway is about 10 minutes ahead of the peloton and still staying away.
