Domaniac

May 19, 2008

In the past, almost a lifetime ago, I purchased a bunch of domain names with the hopes of retiring early. That didn’t happen. While I’m well enough off to treat myself to a Big One tea at Dunkin’s, I’m not of the ilk that can afford Starbucks Stash tea.

That’s why when I saw that America.com was going on the auction block I shuddered.

The people selling the domain are hoping to get in the high seven figures. If I do my math right, seven figures is MILLIONS of dollars.

Wouldn’t it have been cool to have sold any of these names for even FIVE figures?

And while some of these names are already being used, I do have plans for all of them. But don’t be fooled. I am open to offers.

For instance, if Obama were looking for a site to set up before the fall, he could offer me something for VoteDonkey.com. Or if you had an imaginary cat and wanted to give it a Website, you might want VaporCat.com.

But until things like that materialize, I guess I’ll just hang onto these not-so-valuable commodities.

And no, I’ve still not been able to get the guy at Jeff.com to return my emails.

More to come…
