Some things to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving in Boston

November 18, 2012

Each year, we run around like chickens…not turkeys…trying to figure out what really makes us happy. People ask us two things on Thanksgiving. The first is how we understand the origins of Thanksgiving (and that’s a crazy discussion indeed). The second is what we’re thankful for this year.

I tell people that all the answers regarding the origin of Thanksgiving can be found in Stonehenge. I then sit people down and list out for them them the things I’m thankful for. You’d be well served to do the same…and feel free to use this post as inspiration.

This year, I’m thankful for…

70%-off Halloween candy at CVS

Peyton Manning still playing football and making all naysayers seem like fools. He can bring the cheese.

The Onion – it brings a smile to my face even on the tough days

My family. They’re a dysfunctional, passionate bunch and I wonder how I got so lucky to be born into such a great group.

Beer. ‘Nuf said.

My cat. You people with kids wouldn’t understand, but the bond a boy feels with his cat can’t be described.

Sarcasm (see prior sentence).

My Fife. Not the musical instrument, but Gretchen, my fake wife. She’s great and always makes me a better person.

Working from home. You cannot put a price on creative and professional freedom.

Walnuts. Because they look like little brains and taste about 2BILLION percent better than chickpeas.

The Earth.

Laughter.

There’s a few for you to noodle on as you craft your own blog post. Or put your thoughts right here in the comments.

Happy Thanksgiving!
