This little piggie

September 8, 2007

Clownface was home visiting family a week ago and she took some of the tiny people to see the NY State Fair.

They cruised around the animal stalls and the deep-fried onions and the monstrous pumpkins and then came upon a pig on a spit. This full-size pig was enormous and had just started roasting.  It’s 9am and CF has two children (ages 6 and 3) with her.

So, they come up to the pig who is still pink and looks like it’s sleeping. And it has a metal poll stuck from stem to stern.

Well, the two girls asked, with worry in their little voices, if Aunt Clownface could set the pig free.

“Honey, the pig is dead. And they’re cooking it so people can eat it later.”

The kids say, “Poor pig.”

Then, let’s flash ahead an hour to when the three are in the pig barn. While looking at a large sow with multiple piglets suckling on its teets, CF felt a pull on her shorts. One of the little girls was urging her aunt and her sister to hurry along through the barn.

CF said, “What is it sweetheart?”

And the little one responded, “Aunt CF, I think it’s time to move on. I want to see all the other pigs before they’re dead and people eat them.”

The end.

More to come…
